  For those with bf or gf who are JW's: How the JW view non JW's

  this thread is a quick primer for those who are fairly unfamiliar with the jw, but have found that they are dating someone who is or used to be a jw.

  well just to give you a little background on how jw's view the rest of the non-jw world: they basically see you as a bug.

  you are worldly and certain to bring their loved one death at the hands of god at armageddon.

  But if you (or they) get pregnant, expect all their years of phobias and indoctrination to come screaming back now that they have a precious child to save from armageddon! This is actually one of the most common causes for the "unbelieving mate" (aka a person married to a JW) situation. If you do get pregnant, you will spend years here trying to get ideas how to open their mind.

  Every once in a while there is a post that screams at me from my computer. This SO applies to me!! Hindsight being what it is I wish I would have looked into all of this 6 years ago then maybe things would have been different. The problems now is that my JW is no longer my problem so I can't/won't have the opportunity to talk to him about these things. All I can do now is educate myself as much as I can for the sake of my son. Try as he might, my ex and his beliefs will not be all my son knows...and at least he'll have another viewpoint on the whole thing.

  Of Frozen Dead (if it's frozen, it must be dead) Cats

  today i had the dreadful task of picking up a frozen dead kitty from the end of our driveway.

  lest anyone think that this was our kitty (of which we have had one long ago and is now living in that great kitty litter box in the sky), twas not.

  it looked quite well fed and its yellow tabby fur was in good condition.

  So long as it's done responsibly, I'm all for it, my cat (s) go out only when I'm home and I keep an eye on them. I don't let them out all nite or all day & certainly not to reproduce all over the neighborhood & shrug it off. But I do let them go out & have "fun"....and usually only in the summer. I think it's pretty cruel to leave them out to fend for themselves and produce more kitties to do the same thing!

  Sad story...I hate it when people let their animals run free like that....I only hope the cat got out by mistake...sad

  I have neighbors across the street from me, they had 2 beautiful black & white kitties...then they had 5 beautiful black & white kitties, and I believe 3 or 4 more after that. (this past year) They let their animals run free...they are all over the neighborhood. Since I live in a cold state (Alaska) I worry about those kitties and haven't seen them since winter started. They even told me their names at one point, I said "why don't you keep them inside you know they are reproducing don't you?" and they just shrug & say "cats like to be outside". Drives me!!

  One of the kitties adopted itself into my home and has been there since the weather turned cold. She's got my other cat and my 2 kids to keep her company and is going in tomorrow to get her shots & be "fixed". Everytime I see those neighbors I just want to pop them in the back of the head.

  And send them the bill....

  I do the same thing, but probably for very different reasons. I can't keep my friggen cats out of my tree. Charlie Brown's tree looks better than mine does right now, all the branches are bent down and all the ornaments are under the tree.

  So I'm constantly "putting the tree up" You are not alone! Enjoy!

  Aww Spaz....that was so nice....I'm sorry for your loss. My parents just lost their 18 year old kitty on Saturday the same way, it's not easy.

  How does one deal with a JW at Christmas??

  ok, i'm looking for a little more advice.

  it's christmas, i'm an exceptionally festive person (seriously, i start listening to christmas music the day after halloween, i'm not kidding, i love christmas!!

  ), and as anyone who's read my other topics and posts knows, i'm dating an unbaptized, inactive jw who hasn't been to the kh in forever but still completely and utterly despises christmas and all things associated with it (and other holidays, too, he just hates celebrations).. so the question is, how does one deal with this situation??

  Well Becka, it's all about compromise isn't it? It sounds like he's only against Christmas because that's all he knows. He was brought up being told it wasn't allowed. That being said, if that's the best he can do, why can't he allow you to celebrate for the same reasons?

  Personally, I think you're in for a rough ride. I can tell you when I was with my "inactive JW", he never told me not to celebrate Christmas and frankly, if he had, I probably would have gotten here alot quicker than I did. I always included him in presents and always had decorations up. He did live with me, so there was no way for him to escape that. He never "joined" me in celebrating it, but he sure took everything that went with it, including my family's house for dinners. He had no choice, again we lived together, and I had a daughter from a previous relationship and I sure wasn't going to let her not enjoy Christmas.

  He's made his position known to you and you to his...now you are at a stalemate. You could tone it down for him, but you've already said you're not going do do this. I think you are coming to grips with reality here and while that sucks, its better that you do it now than later for both of your sakes.

  Besides, if he's this against you celebrating Christmas and you give in, what's next?

  Need help - Movies that kids like

  hi all, i have my kids coming over with friends, age range 4-9, but as if that isnt enough i need to think of some movies (films) that i could give them to watch.

  i have the new harry potter, and wallace and gromit rabbit, plus charlie and the choco factory - any other suggestions!??!?!

  Jez:

  It sounds like your husband is the "dad" she needs all around good for him! It also sounds like your daughter sees her "father" for what he is, and I know she'll see that it's not HER that makes him that way. They really don't have any control over their emotions when they are challenged do they? It's too damn bad they take it out on the kids they really never see past the end of their noses.

  i've just found this site this evening.

  i've been off work with a bad cold since tuesday and there was a knock on the door this afternoon.

  i don't usually answer the door to strangers but on this occasion i did as i could see 2 elderly gentlemen.

  I never realised that the JW's were like this!!!

  Me either...until I became involved with one & we had a child together. It's been a long & continually bumpy road for me, I hope you do alot of research and come to your own conclusions.
